The picture on the left is taken of me in 2006, so that's 8 years ago. I looked more or less like this for another 5 years up until 2011 until after my daughter, Charlotte, was born.
I don't talk much about my daughter not because I don't want to but because she was only with us for one short day and then she died from a lung infection. That was 2010.
In 2011 I decided that there was one thing I could change, one thing I could focus on and that was my weight, my food. I lost a ton of weight and felt better than I had done in years. I was cycling, running, going to the gym and doing HIIT training too. Then I got pregnant with my son.
I had a very easy pregnancy (despite a lot of anxiety) and now he's a happy 2 year old toddler.
What was even more astonishing was that things that I had previously always thought were normal in me, like bloating in the face and the stomach, acne and phlegm too also disappeared. Then I stopped getting ear infections, colds and runny noses. Then I read a book by Rich Roll called "Finding Ultra" and everything moved up a gear.
His book catapulted me into the lives of Brendan Brazier, Julie Piatt, Chef AJ, Dr Michael Gregor, JJ CroMag... the list is endless. I devoured what they had to say and within 6 months I was almost 100% plant-powered.
The most amazing thing out of all of that was just how incredible I felt, truly. I needed less sleep, I woke up feeling energised and happy, I felt like I had tons of energy throughout the day and frankly that was brilliant because Drew was not a baby who liked to sleep.
That was almost 3 years ago. I have absolutely devoured and digested every single bit of information on diet, optimum nutrition, health and wellness the internet has to offer since then... my plan is to bring you the concise version of what I've learnt focussing on Plant-Power (PP) and healthy food for you and your children to eat on a budget, and anything else that springs to mind. I'm going to include recipes, book recommendations, podcast recommendations and anything else I can get my hands on.
